Top Q: How do I find a WishList?
To find someone’s WishList, click on “Find a WishList” on the homepage or in our top menu. Then type in the first and last name of the individual you’re trying to find.
You can often type in the name of other family members, or a fiancée’s name, to find who you’re looking for. You can also use their state of residence to narrow down the search.
If too few records show up in your search, search on last name only or type in fewer characters. If too many records show up, try searching on state or first name too.
Once you’ve visited someone’s WishList, a link to that WishList is available under “Visited WishLists” in the top menu.
Top Q: How do friends and family find my WishLists?
Friends and family can locate your WishList by typing in your name, or the names of your family members or even your fiancée. They can also use the state where you live to narrow down the search.
When you create your account, you provide us your full name and the state where you live. You can also provide us with a list of other family names that people can use to find your WishList.
So, if you’re getting married, you can provide your fiancée’s name in your account so people can find your WishList with your name or your fiancée’s name.
You can also email friends and family your WishLists. Do this by clicking on the “Share Mine” link in the “My WishLists” menu after logging into your account. The link to your WishList will always be http://wishlist.com/YOUR LOGIN ID with no spaces.
Top Q: How do I purchase a gift off a WishList?
To purchase items off a WishList, first you have to find the individual’s WishList. This is described above.
Once you’ve located a WishList, you may view items on the list by selecting the list you’re interested in. There may be more than one WishList listed for various occasions or recipients in the family.
Once you’ve found the perfect gift, select the “Buy” button next to it. This will bring you to where you can reserve the gift and then purchase the gift.
You need to reserve the gift so that others won’t buy the gift too at a later time.
IMPORTANT: WishList.com does not sell items. You need to purchase the item from its corresponding retailer. Each wish has a link to where it can be purchased.
Once you’ve reserved a gift, you’ll receive an email confirming your reservation.
Top Q: Are my WishLists and personal information private?
WishList treats your privacy with great respect. We never share your information with other companies.
You can keep your WishLists private by requiring guests to answer a simple question before viewing your account. You can set your question and answer in your account.
You can also have guests answer a question before they look at one of your WishLists. You can set your question and answer for each WishList you create. (Note that you can create any number of WishLists.)
You can also mark any WishList as “Private” so guests won’t be able to see it at all. This works well if you want to keep a WishList of gifts for someone else.
Your mailing address is not required. If you choose to provide it however, it’s only shown to guests who want to purchase you a gift so that they can have it mailed to you.
Top Q: How do I undo a reservation or purchase I’ve previously made?
Immediately after reserving a gift, you’re provided with an “Undo Reservation” button.
Immediately after reserving a gift, you’ll also receive an email confirmation of your reservation. This confirmation email has links for undoing the reservation and for purchasing the gift from its corresponding retailer.
You’re also provided with an Undo Reservation link next to the item in the WishList. The Undo Reservation link shows up only if you’re visiting the WishList using the same computer you used to make the original reservations. (We use harmless cookies so keep track of what you’ve reserved).
IMPORTANT: WishList.com does not sell items. You need to purchase the item (or cancel a purchase) from the corresponding retailer. Each wish has a link to the retailer where it can be purchased.
Top Q: How do I avoid duplicate gifts?
When purchasing a gift off a WishList, the gift buyer reserves the quantity they’re going to buy. The WishList then shows a reduced quantity in the “Still Needs” column for that gift. If the gift’s “Still Needs” column shows zero (0), then the gift buyer is given a warning message when they try to purchase that gift.
